Amy Sutherland

Senior Physiotherapist

Amy is a highly experienced hydrotherapy physiotherapist who has dedicated much of her career to the transformative power of water-based rehabilitation. With years of expertise in aquatic therapy, she firmly believes that hydrotherapy is an essential part of recovery, helping patients move sooner, reduce pain, and regain function faster than land-based therapy alone.

Amy has a long history of working in specialist hydrotherapy settings, having previously served as Clinical Lead at St George’s Hospital’s hydrotherapy pool. During her time there, she saw firsthand how water-based rehabilitation accelerates recovery, particularly for post-surgical patients, neurological conditions, and musculoskeletal injuries. However, like many NHS hydrotherapy pools, the facility at St George’s unfortunately closed due to high running costs, despite its undeniable benefits for patients.

But Amy’s passion for hydrotherapy never wavered. Determined to continue delivering the benefits of water-based rehab, she now works at AquaPhysio alongside her role at St George’s, ensuring that more patients still have access to the life-changing effects of aquatic physiotherapy.

With years of experience in designing and delivering tailored hydrotherapy programs, Amy ensures each patient benefits from targeted, progressive rehab in the pool, whether they are recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition, or aiming to return to sport.

Outside of work, Amy continues to champion the importance of hydrotherapy, always looking for ways to promote its value in rehabilitation and keep this vital therapy accessible.
